AtControl Help

AtControl keeps a Mac awake while long work runs, sleeps it on a timer, lets you watch and command it from an iPhone or iPad, and gives AI coding agents a safe way to hold the Mac awake while they work. Pick where you are:

Getting started

  • Getting started

Install AtControl for Mac, flip the switch, and let the setup assistant take you through the rest.

Mac

  • Keeping the Mac awake

The switch, what it holds off, the five rules that release it, and what happens at launch.

  • The sleep timer

Keep the Mac awake for a set time, then sleep it. Presets, the duration field, cancelling, and what "Sleeps at" means.

  • Window, menu bar and launch

The three display modes, launch at login, text size, and what the main window's pages are.

  • Remote-access monitoring

Know when someone connects to your Mac over screen sharing, VNC, remote desktop or SSH.

  • Stats and the journal

Every event AtControl records, the statistics computed from them, export, and retention.

  • Settings reference

Every pane of AtControl for Mac's Settings, in sidebar order.

iPhone & iPad

  • Pairing a Mac

Pair the iPhone or iPad app with a Mac using a QR code or a pairing link, and unpair from either side.

  • Controlling your Mac

The Mac detail screen — presence, mode, someone at the Mac, the countdown, the agent task — and the commands.

  • Alerts and notifications

"Someone is using your Mac", the timer warning, command results, and the switches that decide what reaches you.

  • On iPad

The same app, laid out for the width it has — from Slide Over to a 13-inch landscape window with a sidebar.

Agents

  • Agents — overview

Let Claude Code, Codex or any coding agent keep the Mac awake while it works, and sleep or shut it down when — and only when — you asked.

  • Setting your agent up

Install the five shortcuts, choose the ways in, copy one message into your agent, answer three questions, watch the row turn green, allow each shortcut once.

  • Agents — reference

The five App Intents, the URL scheme, the helper CLI, the JSON fields, the settings, and the rules.

  • Agents — troubleshooting

What the row or the agent says, what it means, what to do.

Security

  • The trust model

What is signed, what is encrypted by whom, what a pairing means, and what AtControl deliberately does not claim.

Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshooting

The Mac sleeps anyway, the phone says Offline, pairing fails, notifications do not arrive.

Glossary

  • Glossary

    The words AtControl uses, exactly.

Requirements: macOS 15.0 or later; iOS 26 / iPadOS 26 or later for the companion; the same iCloud account on both devices for pairing.
